Wear assessment model for cylinder liner of internal combustion engine under fuzzy uncertainty

چکیده
The wear of the piston ring-cylinder system is inevitable in operation internal combustion engines (ICEs). If exceeds maximum, will be failure. A novel assessment model proposed based on support vector regression, and fuzzy uncertainty modeled to describe random behavior under small sample. To verify model, sample data cylinder liner applied. For best results, particle swarm optimization (PSO) algorithm used optimize parameters. back propagation neural network (BPNN) employed effectiveness model. results show that regression has better prediction accuracy than other methods for this paper, can evaluate ICEs effectively. work provides a technical evaluating service performance reference regular maintenance ships.

Cylinder Pressures and Vibration in Internal Combustion Engine Condition Monitoring
Abstract: We focus on the detection of incipient faults in an internal combustion engine using a minimum number of sensory information. Inducing several faults in a 4 stroke diesel engine, cylinder pressure (P) and vibration (V) data are acquired. Two sets of artificial neural nets (ANN) are trained separately, using features from the pressure and vibration data. Both sets of nets show very goo...
متن کاملTOPOGRAPHY CHARACTERIZATION OF ENGINEERING SURFACES USING MATHEMATICAL MORPHOLOGY Application to the characterization of wear in internal combustion engine cylinder liners
A state of the art of 3D surface characterization techniques in the automotive and steel industries is presented, and links with mathematical morphology are highlighted. A surface topography decomposition method is described. It decomposes a surface into three elements: reference surface (waviness and form), superficial roughness (related to friction and wear) and valleys (related to lubricant ...
متن کاملNeuro-Fuzzy Identification of an Internal Combustion Engine
Abstract – Dynamic modeling and identification of an internal combustion engine (ICE) model is presented in this paper. Initially, an analytical model of an internal combustion engine simulated within SIMULINK environment is excited by pseudorandom binary sequence (PRBS) input. This random signals input is chosen to excite the dynamic behavior of the system over a large range of frequencies. Th...

In the modern world, one of the largest concerns is the ever depleting supply of oil. The automotive industry is especially impacted. In recent years the price of gasoline has fluctuated substantially and the price of crude oil has reached record highs. The high price of gasoline coupled with the uncertainty of its availability and future price have put a high priority on fuel economy of an eng...
متن کاملAn Efficient Multibody Dynamics Model for Internal Combustion Engine Systems
The equations of motion for the major components in an internal combustion engine are developed herein using a recursive formulation. These components include the (rigid) engine block, pistons, connecting rods, (flexible) crankshaft, balance shafts, main bearings, and engine mounts. Relative coordinates are employed that automatically satisfy all constraints and therefore lead to the minimum se...
